Nag champa est une fragrance originaire d’Inde. On a rapporté que son odeur conduisait à l’obtention d’un état de calme et de méditation. On y retrouve une forte concentration de bois de santal. Cette fragrance revêt plus particulièrement la forme d’encens – bâton ou cône – mais aussi la forme de savon, parfum, huile à massage et bougie.

Le Nag champa appartient à la catégorie plus large des encens indiens “Champa” qui désigne une sorte de fleur. Cet encens contient un ingrédient indigène d’Inde appelé “halmaddi” (résine semi-liquide obtenue grâce à l’arbre Ailanthus triphysa (synonyme Ailanthus malabarica)) qui lui donne sa couleur grise et sa propriété d’absorber l’humidité ambiante.

– Kaiguang is the Chinese term for consecration of a statue of a deity. In Chinese, the literal meaning of Kaiguang is “opening of light”. While it is often performed in the Buddhist and Taoist faiths.
– It is believed that if it dont go through KAIGUANG, it cannot be worshiped or used for performance, as the eyes are still “closed”.
